Features
See Change Log if you want to know what changed with
respect from previous versions (it includes more details, as well as bugfixes).
Disclaimer: RVV uses Wise, which means it
currently only works on *NIX and other systems with X-Windows.
Planets Data
- Reads all DosPlan and WinPlan files that contain interesting information
(including TRN files(!); but not all incoming messages are parsed to extract
information),
- Reads some PHost 3 files (not all util records are used, hullfunc.* and
shiplist.txt are not read),
- Attempt at simulating (and verifying) hostruns (both
THost (movement with fuel usage) and PHost (movement without fuel usage)),
Supported add-ons
- Orbiter,
- Exploremap,
- TVCR2 (exploded ships are removed),
Additional Data and Archive
- User-data, such that host-simulations take these values into account,
stored in turn/user.txt, don't throw
these files away,
- Can read playerXX.trn files (used
in the archive),
- Knows about ships you've only seen in battle,
- Understands host-configuration (dumps Thost config messages in tconfig.txt),
- Maintains an Archive (automatically saves playerXX.rst, planet.nm, race.nm, utilXX.dat, xyplanXX.dat (for explore(map)) in subdir
with the name of the turn number (like JVPC does) as history,
- Can switch between Rst, Trn, w/User and w/History universes (Trn shows only
current info; w/User also shows user info; w/History shows all known and
derived data; Rst shows turn without any commands applied to it (inasmuch that
is useful)),
- Predicts (Tim and Portable)host results (atm ship movement, including
gravitonic, tow, intercept, cobol fuel production; minelaying, sweeping and
decay; minerals and supplies production, including alchemy, 'mkt, 'lfm', free
fighters, fact+mines and bovinoids; structure decay; transfer to enemy ship;
native and colonist happiness (incl Hiss), growth (including borg
assimilation and amorphous worms) and income, lady royale, terraforming);
shown in one Predicted Map,
- Global config and game-specific config (rvv-wise.cfg in both ~/.rvv and the game-directory,
User Interface
- Zoomable map to give an overview of all data,
- Shows (and provides toggles for): ships, bases, (web)minefields, (PHost)
wormholes, (THost) ionstorms, explosions, mines, factories and planetary
defense, base defense, base fighters,
- Special selections (Query) to select which planets and ships you want to
see details of (under Planet and Ship menu),
- Shows (and provides toggles for): many properties of planets on the map
(like minerals, natives, temperature, factories)
- Shows waypoints, warp circles and HYP circles (area between 340 and 360 LY)
and a grid,
- Minefield summary (by NicM),
- 7-toggle for ShipScan, SensorScan, BioScan, MineScan, DarkSense and Loki
areas (as in JVPC, by NicM),
- User Markers (press Insert, based on coordinates for now),
- Sumaries for planets and ships,
- Shows messages (only the interesting ones!),
- Multi-Toggle for distance-lines,
- Nearest (shown) list of object pops up on MouseClick and can show more
detailed info,
- Lists a minefield, wormhole and ionstorm whenever an object within its
radius is selected,
- Find functionality for Planets, Ships and Minefields,
